Download Meeting Transcripts
Learn how to download meeting transcript files from popular platforms
Microsoft Teams
For Meeting Recordings:
- Open Microsoft Teams and go to Calendar
- Find and click on the recorded meeting
- In the meeting details, click on the Recording tab
- Click the three dots (...) next to the recording
- Select Download or Open in Microsoft Stream
- If opened in Stream:
- Click the three dots under the video
- Select Download transcript
- Choose VTT format
Note:
Transcription must be enabled for the meeting. Your organization may need to enable this feature in Teams admin settings.
Zoom
Downloading Transcripts:
- Sign in to your Zoom account at zoom.us
- Navigate to Recordings in the left menu
- Find your recorded meeting
- Click on the meeting title to expand details
- Look for Audio Transcript section
- Click Download next to the VTT file option
Requirements:
Audio transcription must be enabled before or during the meeting. This feature is available for paid Zoom accounts.
Google Meet
Accessing Transcripts:
- Open Google Drive
- Navigate to Meet Recordings folder
- Find the meeting folder (organized by date)
- Look for the transcript file (usually ends in
.srtor.vtt) - Download the file
Important:
Transcription is available only for Google Workspace Enterprise accounts. The meeting host must enable recording with transcription.
YouTube
For Your Own Videos:
- Go to YouTube Studio
- Select your video from the content list
- Click on Subtitles in the left menu
- Click the three dots next to the language
- Select Download
- Choose .vtt format
For Public Videos:
You can use browser extensions or online tools to download transcripts:
- Use YouTube's built-in transcript feature (click "..." → "Show transcript")
- Copy the transcript and convert it to VTT format using online converters
- Use third-party tools like youtube-transcript-api or browser extensions
Note:
Only download transcripts from videos you own or have permission to use. Auto-generated captions may not include speaker labels.
Tips for Best Results
Enable speaker identification: Make sure your meeting platform is configured to identify different speakers in the transcript
Check file format: Ensure the file is in VTT format (not SRT or TXT). Some platforms offer conversion options
Audio quality matters: Clear audio with minimal background noise produces more accurate transcripts
File size limit: Keep files under 2MB for optimal performance on our platform
